Lisa (Steigleder) Pellowski, 54, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 6, 2018, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, in the arms of her husband, Thomas. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, August 12, 2018 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home – McCalley Chapel in Adel. A time of sharing memories will begin at 1:00 p.m. Family inurnment will be Monday, August 13th at Oakdale Cemetery in Adel. A 1983 graduate of ADM High School, she enlisted in the US Navy shortly after graduation and served with distinction for 28 years. Retiring in 2011 as a Aviation Maintenance Master Chief. The top 1% of the US Navy. Notable accomplishments include being the one of the first women in the US Navy to complete Aircrew Combat Survival Evasion Resistance Escape School (SERE). She served in many combat and support helicopter squadrons and also served at the Naval Helicopter Flight Test and Evaluation Squadron. She completed 2 tours of duty being forward deployed in Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Just Cause earning the Defense Meritorious Service Medal . She earned the Naval Helicopter Association's Maintenance Person of the Year and served as the subject matter expert for maintenance for Naval Air Forces Headquarters. She was the Aviation Department Master Chief aboard the USS Nassau's final deployment before being decommissioned, later known as the “Iron Man Cruise” since they were at sea for over 180 consecutive days without a port call. She is survived by her husband, Thomas E. Pellowski of Unionville, MO, her mother, Margaret Steigleder of Adel, IA, and her brother, Mark Steigleder of Boise, ID. She was preceded in death by her father, Ronald Steigleder, Sr. and her brother, Ronald Steigleder, Jr. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Puppy Jake Foundation in memory of Master Chief Pellowski is requested.
