Lisbeth G. Kuczynski

Lisbeth Kuczynski “Oma” passed away on April 28th, 2021 at her home. She was born on October 15th, 1922 to Frederick and Louise “Krause” Marx in Elbing, Germany. While residing in Germany, Lisbeth met and married Alfred Behrend who later passed away while serving in the German Navy during World War II. She later met her second husband Frank Kuczynski “Opa” in a prison camp. In 1951, they came to the United States where they resided in Ames, IA for the bulk of their life. Lisbeth dedicated her life as a Secretary for Iowa State University where she eventually retired after 20 plus years. She would always say, “All the students love me!” because they would always go to her first. She is survived by her daughter Marlis Bracewell; grandchildren Romi Kowalk, Merri Costello, Mike Bracewell and Julie Bracewell; great-grandchildren Ashley Kowalk, Anthony Costello, Mason Costello, Tristan Bracewell, Rosie Bracewell, Evan Bracewell, Ryan Shelledy, and Nicole Shelledy. There will be a private interment at a later date.
