Lois Groth, 90, of Winterset, Iowa, died Saturday, January 10, 2015, at West Bridge Care & Rehabilitation in Winterset. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, January 14, at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with Rev. Dr. Beverlee Bell officiating. Burial will be in the Winterset Cemetery. Lois was born on May 16, 1924, at Madison County, Iowa to Earl and Madalene (Hann) Graves. Lois graduated from Winterset High School in 1942 and was married on February 10, 1951 at Winterset to Lloyd Groth. Throughout her lifetime she helped Lloyd farm, was a homemaker and had worked at Breeding's Hardware. She had been an active member of the First United Methodist Church, served on the board of the Madison County Historical Society, served on the North Ward Plaza board, volunteered at the Madison County Memorial Hospital, was a 4-H leader, was active in Farm Bureau, a member of the Republican Women, Studious Moderns and Winterset Women's Club member, and had taught Sunday School. Lois is survived by her son, Marvin (Debra) Groth of Winterset; daughter, Carolyn (Roger) of Stirler of Altoona; grandchildren, Amanda Reeder and Christopher Groth; and great grandchildren, Peyton Reeder and Carter Reeder. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Madalene (Hann) Graves; and husband, Lloyd Groth. Visitation will be Tuesday from noon to 8 PM at the First United Methodist Church with family receiving friends from 4 to 6 PM. Memorials given to the family will be directed to First United Methodist Church, Madison County Historical Society, or the Madison County Memorial Hospital.
