Lois I. Nichols, 77, of DeSoto, Iowa died after a lengthy illness on Monday, April 4, 2005 at Madison County Health Care System in Winterset. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald; two brothers; one sister; and two sons-in-law. Lois was born December 9, 1927 near Peru, Iowa; the daughter of Claude and Mildred (Wigton) Monagon. She married the love of her life, Donald Nichols September 9, 1946. Together, they lived in DeSoto throughout their lives and were blessed with two daughters, Kathy and Connie. Lois loved her family. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing cards and board games and in her earlier years, camping and pontoon boating. She was also an avid soap opera fan. She is survived by two daughters, Kathy Greif of DeSoto and Connie Carter of Bevington; four grandchildren, Kevin and Brian Greif of DeSoto, Sarah Black and husband, Chad, and Travis Carter and fiancé, Emily McDowell of Bevington; two great-grandchildren, Dylan and Dustin Black; and a sister Marion Hood of Winterset. Visitation: 11:00 a.m., Monday April 11, 2005, at Oakdale Cemetery , DeSoto, Iowa Service: A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 11, 2005 at the Oakland Cemetery in DeSoto, where Pastor Jim Howland of the First United Presbyterian Church of Winterset will officiate. A visitation with family will be held 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, April 10, 2005 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare. Immediately following services at the cemetery there will be a luncheon held at the Desoto Methodist Church in Desoto. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
