Lois Kimpton Anderson was born March 17, 1921 in Gravity, Iowa; the daughter of John and Ethel (Beery) Kimpton. She graduated from Bedford High School in 1938 and later married Carl Anderson on September 28, 1940 in Chillicothe, Missouri. Lois taught country school in a one room school house in rural Taylor County for 5 years while Carl was in the Army during WWII. They moved to Winterset in 1955 from Austin, Minnesota. She is survived by her husband, Carl of Winterset; two sons, Dale Anderson (Linda) of White Pigeon, MI and Glen Anderson (Linda) of Winterset; 7 grandchildren (Michael, Robert, Woody, Andrew, Allen, Emma, and Aaron); 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Lois was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers and 3 sisters, including Vida Snyder (June 2008) of Winterset. Lois was a full-time homemaker, staying home and raising her boys and helping on the family farm. She later was a head cook at Bethesda Care Center for over 17 years. She enjoyed flowers and gardening, taking walks, and riding on the four-wheeler on the family farm. Lois loved her farm cats and had nearly 20 at one time. Lois was her husband Carl's ears. The two of them were always together. Lois died Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at the Winterset Care Center South in Winterset. She was 88. Visitation: 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, September 13, 2009 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare, where family will be present to receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Service: 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 14, 2009 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare. Memorial: Memorial contributions in her name will be directed to the family.
