A service for Mae Presnell was held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 24, 2012 at the Rippey United Methodist Church in Rippey, Iowa. Words of comfort were provided by Pastor Paul Burrow and Pastor Enna Antunez. Mae's honorary casket bearers were: Juleann Hunt-Osburn, Bradley Hunt, Jessica Hunt, Todd Osburn, Shirley Dagit, John Parker, Christopher Boza, and Gloria Ibach. Her casket bearers were: Cody Parker, Jack Ibach, Gail Monthei, Larry Johnson, Ronnie Dagit, and Philip Roberts. Myron Rinker was the usher and music was provided by pianist Marjorie Vannatta and Soloist Dick Bardole. The Humns were "On Eagles Wings" and "Hymn of Promise". Interment was at Rippey Cemetery. Following the burial a time of lunch and fellowship was provided by the Rippey United Methodist Women at the church. Arrangements were made by Hastings Funeral Home in Perry. Lois Mae Presnell, daughter of Charles Henry Humphrey and Nellie Fern Slocum, was born January 19, 1917 in Scranton, Iowa. She passed peacefully on March 21, 2012 at the Altoona Nursing and Rehab Center in Altoona, Iowa at the age of 95. Mae was born and raised in Scranton and graduated from Scranton High School in 1934. She married Wesley Daniel Rittgers in Perry on June 29, 1938 and the couple settled in Rippey. Wesley passed on November 23, 1966. Mae later married Bryce Leon Presnell in Rippey on March 22, 1969. Bryce passed on July 30, 1971. Mae worked as a cook at the Rippey Consolidated School and was a nurse's aide at the Greene County Hospital. She had a love for quilting, gardening, reading, and crossword puzzles. Later in life, she made eight cherished quilts for her family. Mae was a member of the Methodist Church in Rippey. Mae is preceded in death by both of her parents in 1971, her first husband, Wesley, in 1966, her second husband, Bryce, in 1971, and her sisters: Bernace Josephine Riley in 2000 and Margaret Ione Dagit in 2008. Mae is survived by her daughters: Marna Kay (John) Parker of Austin, TX; and Julene Ann (Christopher) Boza of Chattaroy, WA; and three grandchildren: Cody Parker of Washington, DC; Juleann Marie (Todd) Hunt-Osburn of Chattaroy, WA; and Bradley Reid (Jessica) Hunt of Chico, CA; four great-grandchildren: Jaelynn Hunt-Osburn, Dannielle Hunt, Brandon Hunt, and Alex Hunt; a niece Gloria Ione (Jack) Ibach of Missouri; and a nephew Ronnie Gene (Shirley) Dagit of Minnesota. www.hastingsfh.com
