Lois Marjorie Plumb

Lois Marjorie Plumb, daughter of Frank Ackerman and Clara Newman Ackerman, was born February 2, 1925 in Griswold, Iowa and died October 22, 2007 at the Dallas County Hospital in Perry, Iowa, at the age of 82 years, 2 months and 28 days. Lois graduated from Griswold High school in 1942 and then attended Junior College. Lois taught all grades at a rural school outside of Red Oak. She was united in marriage with Richard Vernon "Dick" Plumb on November 25, 1944 at Creston. They were parents of three children, Curtis, Marcia, and Valerie. The couple farmed, and later moved to Emerson. In 1963 they moved to Perry. Lois worked as an assistant for Dr. Siegel and Dr. Zortman. She enjoyed her years of working at the Perry Lutheran Hom as she was a natural caregiver. Lois loved her family, doted on her grandchildren, and cherished her friends. She enjoyed collecting family memorabilia. Lois was a member of First United Methodist Church in Perry. She was preceded in deathy by her parents; and infant brother, Leland; her husband, Dick in 1995, and son Curt in 1998. Lois is survived by her daughters, Marcia Martin and husband Dennis, and Valerie Kilmer and husband Chris; 4 grandchildren, Erin Bradley, Emily Marin, and Ashley and Matthew Martin; sister, Jean Davidson; and brothers, Dale Ackerman and wife Delores, and Ken Ackerman; sister-in-law, Barbara Lintner; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
