Lois Tadlock, 85, of Winterset, died February 26, 2015, at Winterset Care Center South in Winterset. A visitation will be held at 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 27 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset, where family will be present to receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 28 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Winterset with burial to immediately follow in the Winterset Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Winterset Care Center South Activity Fund and condolences may be left for the family online at ochiltree.com. Lois Jean Hawk was born September 4, 1929, in Moravia, Iowa, the daughter of Claude and Tressa (Tisue) Hawk. Lois graduated from Moravia High School in 1947. She married Grant Basil Tadlock in September of 1948 and to this union three children were born and the couple later divorced. Lois was a devoted mother raising her three children and making a home for them. She also worked outside the home for the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, where she worked in financial aid until the age of 75, retiring in 2005. After her retirement she moved to Winterset in 2006 to be closer to family. She was a lifelong Methodist having been a member of several congregations and most recently the Winterset United Methodist Church. As her health declined she enjoyed attending the St. Paul Lutheran Church with her son’s family. She was active in the St. Paul Lutheran Church quilting guild, enjoyed reading and watching televised sporting events, especially the Chicago Cubs. All this said, Lois was a loving mother and grandmother who loved her family dearly and cherished anytime spent with them. She is survived by a two sons, Charles ‘Tad’ Tadlock and his wife, Connie of Winterset; James Tadlock and his wife, Kristal of Olympia, WA; a son-in-law, Bob Garbe of Blythewood, SC; a brother, Richard Hawk and his wife, Judy of Moravia as well as seven grandchildren: Chris (Dwayne) Taylor, Brad (Alyssa) Tadlock, Brian (Laura) Tadlock, Andrea Tadlock, Carrie (Steve) McGinnis, Tegan Tadlock and Tessa Tadlock; and six great-grandchildren: Taryn McFarland, Sydney Taylor, Garrett Macumber and Bowen, Bristol and Brooklyn Tadlock. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Elaine Garbe and a sister Carolyn Illingworth.
