Lola Belle Marchant - Pleasant Hill

Lola Belle Marchant, second daughter of Aaron and Zola (Bennett) Marchant, passed away March 8, 2015 at the age of 92 and 4 mos at Union Park Health Services. Belle was born on October 15, 1922 near Scranton in Greene County. She was baptized at the Methodist Church in Bayard at the young age of 2. Belle was a very independent person who worked hard all her life - many times she worked two jobs. She held many jobs - driving a truck in Florida - playing Softball for Pepsi Cola. She worked at Firestone Tire & Rubber for 34 years, retiring November 1985. A member of United Steel Works (SOAR). Belle is survived by her sister Betty Wood of Taopi, MN; a friend, Jean Couchman with whom she made her home for the past 50 years; brother in law, Gene Lee, Seward, NE and many nieces and nephews. Belle was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Marie Kinnick, Thelma Lee, Cleta Marchant, Jennith Marchant and Zelda Monroe; brothers, Melvin (Donna) Marchant, Lindsey (Opal) Marchant and Rex (Mildred) Marchant; and brothers in law, John Wood, Lyle Kinnick, and Jim Monroe. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 12 at McCalley Funeral Home in Adel with burial at Dodge Township Cemetery near Bagley.
