Lonnie John Maxwell

February 5, 1938 — March 25, 2008

Lonnie was born February 5, 1938 in Elkhart, Iowa, the son of John and Gertrude (George) Maxwell. Lonnie worked as a heavy equipment operator for many years at the Penn-Dixie Quarry and then at Schildberg Quarry. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jeff Maxwell; granddaughter, Alannah Maxwell and two brothers, Dick and Freddie Maxwell. Lonnie enjoyed vacationing with his family and taking motorcycle trips. He loved the outdoors and looked forward to going deer hunting with the boys every year. Lonnie was blessed with the gift of gab. He never knew a stranger and was never at a loss for words. Lonnie was a long time member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset. Lonnie is survived by his children from his marriage to Rose Marie; Roxanne Davis (Rick Snyder), Randy Maxwell (Karla), Tony Maxwell (Jayne) and Tina Berch (Steve) all of Winterset; his wife of 37 years, Beverly (Wiedman) Maxwell and their daughter, Michelle Sellers (John) both of Winterset; 13 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; a brother, Larry Maxwell of Winterset; sisters, Helen Young of Winterset, Millie Ray of Branson, MO, Mary Anne Flesher of Melcher-Dallas and Diane Jackson of Grand River and many nieces and nephews. Visitation: 2 to 8 p.m, Thursday, where family will receive friends from 5 to 8, with a Prayer Service beginning at 8 p.m., March 27, 2008 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare, Winterset, Iowa Service: 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 28, 2008 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Winterset, Iowa Memorial: Memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association or Middle River Hospice.
