Lonnie Shipley Ii

Lonnie (Toot) Shipley II, age 48, passed away Monday, December 23, 2019 with family by his side. Lonnie was born March 10, 1971 in Des Moines to Lonnie Shipley and Dianna Reinholdt. In 1989, Lonnie married Lori Wolverton. Soon after in 1991, Lonnie joined the United States Army during the Desert Storm era. After basic training, Lonnie returned home to an Iowa guard unit. During this time they had three children. In his free time he enjoyed cooking, drawing, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling to Oregon with his father to visit extended family. He was most recently active in the APA pool league. Lonnie is survived by his father and stepmother, Lonnie (Liz) Shipley of Des Moines, children, Brittney Shipley of West Des Moines, Brooke (Aaron) Waters of Des Moines, and Austin Shipley of Des Moines, his three grandsons, Jethro, Judd, and Sam Waters, brother Jeff Shipley, sister Alicia Simpson, as well as nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dianna Reinholdt, maternal grandparents Charlie and Ruth Reinholdt, and paternal grandparents, Melvin Shipley and Mary Shipley Peuker. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2020 from 10 am - 12 pm at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home and Crematory in Urbandale. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made directly to his children to assist with funeral expenses.
