May received her education in Albia. She was always a caregiver to her entire family. May was blessed with numerous nieces and nephews and they always competed for a place on her lap. She worked with her sister Ruth Hoffman at the Chocolate Shop and together with Donna, ran the Red Carpet in the early 90's. Throughout her life, she was not afraid of hard work. May loved all children and many looked to her as grandma. Her gentleness was a beacon to children. She enjoyed fishing, watching birds, working crossword puzzles, word search, and watching Wheel of Fortune and the Price is Right on T.V.
