Loyde “Bud” Brown, 76, of Winterset, passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2021 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 1, 2021 at the First United Presbyterian Church in Winterset. Family will greet friends one hour prior, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in the Union Chapel Cemetery, Madison County. Memorials may be directed to the family for a later designation. Loyde Francis Brown was born on November 30, 1944 in Madison County, Iowa, the son of Ernest and Ethel (Murphy) Brown. He graduated from Winterset High School in 1962 and attended tech school. He was united in marriage to Sandra Hammer. She preceded him in death in 2016. He married Reta Ward on December 1, 2018 in Des Moines, Iowa. He was a lifetime resident of Madison County. Bud was a tractor mechanic and also farmed a “Century Farm”, which was a fourth generation farm. He was a former member of the Odd Fellows Lodge, was part of the Winterset square dance group and enjoyed local music jams. He wanted to be remembered as a fair and truthful man. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Ethel; and first wife, Sandra; sister, LaDonna Speer; and brother, Larry Brown. Bud is survived by his wife, Reta Brown of Winterset; children, Todd Brown of Winterset and Tonya (Mike) Kerres of Omaha; sisters, Elaine (Robert) Newton of Winterset, Arlene (Bryce) Beerends of Prairie City, and Mary (John) Onstot of Newton; 5 grandchildren, Brandon, Alix (Nick), Abigail (Zach), Hannah, and Sophia; 2 great-grandchildren, Brett and Ava; sister-in-law, Jackie Brown; brother-in-law, Wayne Speer; and many nieces and nephews.
