Lucas Chandler Dereus

Lucas Chandler DeReus, 29, of Slater, IA passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2016. Lucas is survived by his mom and dad, Kathy and Rod DeReus of Huxley, IA; his brother Ben (Kelsie) and niece Brinley of Vinton, IA; and brother Jacob of Huxley. Lucas was preceded in death by his grandparents, Doug and Joyce Hjort and Darrell and Lenora DeReus. Other family includes aunts and uncles, many cousins and Ballard community members who Lucas considered as family. Visitation with family will be on Thursday, April 14 from 5pm to 8pm at Ballard High School, 701 Ballard Drive in Huxley, IA. Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, April 16 at 10am at Walnut Ridge Recreation Area, located in Johnston, IA. The family requests that you dress comfortably for the visitation and celebration of life, in jeans, shorts, tennis shoes or however you feel most comfortable. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the family for a fund to be designated at a later date.
