Lura E. Hoeness

December 18, 1902 — November 30, 2005

Lura was born December 18, 1902 in Casey, Iowa, the daughter of Reuben D. and Carrie E. (Halley) Mowry. She moved to Madison County and began farming west of Winterset when she married husband Harry Hoeness in 1937. She is survived by her grandson, Allen Stevenson. She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Carol Ann Stevenson and two sisters, Edna McGinnis and Blanche Richter. Lura was a charter member of the Winterset Art Center and designed much of their church and bridge stationary. She was also a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Winterset. Lura E. (Mowry) Hoeness died Wednesday evening, November 30, 2005, at West Bridge Care & Rehabilitation in Winterset at the age of 102. Visitation: Casey, Iowa. Service: Memorial contributions may be directed to the First United Presbyterian Church and Middle River Hospice both of Winterset. Memorial: Noon to 3:00 p.m., Sunday, December 4, 2005 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset.
