Lyle G. Dudney, 92, of Lorimor died Saturday, September 18, 2010 at Winterset Care Center North in Winterset. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at the Calvary Baptist Church, St. Charles. A visitation will be held from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, September 20, 2010 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare, with family present to receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Peru Cemetery, Peru. Memorials in Lyle’s name may be directed to his family. Lyle George Dudney was born November 29, 1917 in Madison County, Iowa the son of Loyd and Bernice (Seward) Dudney. He graduated from Truro High School, class of 1936 and later served in the United States Army during World War II. His marriage to Helen Louise McVay took place on August 30, 1941 in Albany, Missouri and to this union three children were born, Kenneth, Linda, and Maurice. Lyle was a farmer all of his life and in 1949 he and Helen purchased the farm they would call home for the next 61 years. He loved farming and tried to instill in his children a strong work ethic. He also raised and managed a dairy herd for many years as well as performing custom combining and baling for many area farm neighbors. He also drove a school bus for the Lorimor East Union School district for 15 years. Lyle is survived by his children, Kenneth Dudney (Della) of St. Charles, Linda Stalcup (James) of Lorimor, and Maurice Dudney (Maleea) of Urbandale; a sister, Nola May Robbins of Idaho; nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen in April of this year; two sisters, Velda Bedwell and Vera Towne and an infant granddaughter, Charity Dudney.
