Lynn Marvin Durbin, son of James Madison Durbin and Dagmar Andreson, was born Dec. 7, 1921 on his parents' farm in Viola Township, Audubon County, Iowa, and died April 9, 2009 at Regency Park Health and Rehab in Jefferson, Iowa, at the age of 87 years, 4 months and 2 days. Lynn attended rural school in Orange Number 3. He worked for Adams Ranch and Garst Company. He served in the U.S. Navy from March 1945 to September 1946, seeing duty at Okinawa. Lynn was united in marriage with Veronice Cleon Ranniger on August 27, 1947. They were parents of two sons, Donavon and Kevin. Veronice and Lynn lived in Bagley where he operated Durbin Milling Lynn sold his milling business and began farming. He and Veronice were always together. Lynn retired and moved into Jefferson in 1986. Lynn loved to work and as a couple decided they needed something to do, so for 16 years they took care of the Greene County Fairgrounds. While Veronice painted, Lynn mowed. Veronice and Lynn had traveled the United States and also enjoyed a trip to Hawaii. For the last twenty years, they made an annual trip to Las Vegas. Their family appreciated their sense of concern, but with no meddling. Lynn was a long time member of the Bagley United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, his soul mate, Veronice in October of 2008, his brothers and sisters, William Durbin, Wayne Durbin, Jean Lengeman, Dorothy Taylor, June Kole, Roy Durbin, Harold Durbin, twins Lester and Loren Durbin, daughter- in-law Becky Durbin, and great grandchild Chloe Riepma. Lynn is survived by two sons, Donavon and wife Carolyn of Linden, Iowa; and Kevin of Jefferson, Iowa; six grandchildren, Jason Durbin and wife Emily; Tracey Bennett and husband Daryle; Matthew Durbin; Bridgett Springer and husband Jeremy; Janell Riepma and husband Eric; and Kim Young; 9 great grandchildren: Alexis Durbin; Jesse James, Cole Unger, and Kaydee Lynn Bennett; Brooke, Jerod, and Cody Springer; Olivia Riepma; and Kameron Young. Lynn is also survived by many nieces and nephews; sisters and brothers, Verna Christensen, Eleanor "Toots" Olson, Ina Mae Gile and husband Rocky, Dale Durbin and wife Helen, Martha Cady and husband Merle, Gary "Pete" Durbin and wife Betty, Carolyn Lanning and husband Dick, Jim Durbin, and Deanna Firebaugh, other relatives and many friends.
