Lynnette Harvey

September 23, 1945 — August 31, 2024

Lynnette (Hansen) Harvey, 78, of Adel, passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at the Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.

Lynnette was born on September 23, 1945 in Audubon to Leonard “Babe” and Nyretta (Winger) Hansen. She was baptized and confirmed at the Exira Lutheran Church.  She graduated from Exira High School in 1964. She married Dan Harvey on September 23, 1989 at the First United Methodist Church in Adel. Lynnette worked many jobs throughout her lifetime, but eventually settled and helped Dan own and operate Dan’s Towing in Adel.

Lynnette was a track star while in high school and was a record holder for many years. She also excelled at softball and basketball all throughout her high school years. Lynnette and Dan loved to travel during their time together and their travels took them many places which  often included a stop at the casino. She loved to tend to her garden and grew many beautiful flowers every year. She had a knack for decorating the most beautiful Christmas tree for the holidays in which her family got to enjoy.  Her dogs were always treated like her children and she loved every one of them over the years.

Although Lynnette’s body was no longer able to sustain life here on earth, she was still able to give many people the gift of tissue donation. This gift will go on to help countless people who struggle with medical conditions, a testament to her loving nature.

Lynnette is survived by her husband, Dan; three sons, Matthew (Angela) Immel, Michael (Teresa) Immel, and Mark (Elizabeth) Downing; sister, Sharon Vonesh; grandchildren, Amber (Jon) Oiler, Titan (Lauren) Immel, Joshua Downing, Samantha (Adam) Walter, Jeremiah (Reagan) Downing, Ashley, Alexander, Zoe and James ”Jimmy” Downing; and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard “Babe” and Nyretta Hansen; brother, Larry Hansen; and brother-in-law, Merlin “Butch” Vonesh.
