Mabel 'Gg' Banks

Mabel 'GG' Banks, 93, of Winterset died Thursday, May 31, 2012 at West Bridge Care and Rehabilitation in Winterset. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 4th at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset. A visitation will be held 1 to 6 p.m., Sunday, June 3rd at Ochiltree’s, where the family will be present to receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Burial will be in the Blair Chapel Cemetery in South Township, Madison County, Iowa. Memorials to Middle River Hospice will be appreciated. Mabel Anna Mae Wignall was born July 30, 1918 in Flagler, Iowa; the daughter of Lambert and Grace (McGrew) Wignall. Her marriage to Venzell ‘Frank’ Banks took place on March 8, 1938 in Des Moines. He preceded her in death on September 30, 1982. Mabel was a homemaker. She enjoyed flower gardening and she was an excellent baker, making incredible pies, cookies and bread. Her greatest joy was her family and she looked forward to any time spent with them. She is survived by her children, Janet Pickar of Winterset; Roger (Charlotte) Banks of St. Charles and Jerry (Kasey) Banks of Osceola. She is also survived by a brother, Russell (Dot) Wignall of Des Moines, six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, her son-in-law, Dave Pickar and siblings, Violet, Loretta, Delores, Harold, Albert, Alvin, Roy and Glenn.
