Funeral services for Margaret Jordan were held 10:30, Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at Hastings Funeral Home in Jefferson. Words of comfort were provided by Pastor Larry Monthei of Hope Parish. The honorary casket bearers were Jim Jordan, Lonnie Krantz, Squire Smith, Josh Vander Molen, Jordan Vander Molen, Jonathan Jordan, David Krantz, and Bill Orchard. The active casket bearers were Mike Jordan, Danny Jordan, George Jordan, Lyle Jordan, Joe Jordan, and Allen Jordan. The recorded music was "Tie A Yellow Ribbon Round The Old Oak Tree", "It's A Wonderful World", "I.O.U.", and "Like My Mother Does". Her grandson, Joe Jordan, air brushed Margaret's casket with butterflies. Burial was at the Dillavou Cemetery in Scranton with a balloon and butterfly release following the committal services. After internment a time of fellowship and lunch was held at the Uptown Caf in Jefferson. Visitation was held Monday, September 5, 2011 at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Her friend, Willie Agan provided an ice cream truck for the visitation in Creston. Margaret Irene Jordan, daughter of George E. Bradley and Eva D. Bishop Bradley was born October 16, 1924 in Jefferson, Iowa and died September 2, 2011 at the Creston Nursing and Rehab Center in Creston, Iowa at the age of 86. Margaret grew up in Jefferson and received her education in Jefferson. Margaret was married to Harold D. Jordan on July 21, 1942 in Jefferson. She was a homemaker and farm wife most of her life. They first lived in Jefferson and later moved to a farm north of Afton in 1946. They lived in Scranton from 1955 to 1957, returning to Afton. In 1959 Margaret started her house cleaning business and worked at that for 52 years. She moved to Jefferson in 1992. Margaret's catering business was always popular. Margaret was a very giving person, always busy with grandchildren and family. She enjoyed being able to transport others for appointments, and volunteering, especially at Regency Park. Margaret helped with Bingo for seven years and furnished the prizes. She liked people and enjoyed visiting. Margaret was a very good cook and will always be remembered for her delicious deviled eggs, pickle wraps, and angel food cakes. When she could relax, Margaret loved to fish and garden. She was especially fond of butterflies. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold Dexter Jordan in July of 1973, siblings Cecil Bradley, David Bradley, Fern Bradley, Robert Bradley and son Kenny Jordan on March 29, 2011. She will be greatly missed by her five sons, George Jordan of Des Moines; Jim Jordan of Jefferson; Lyle Jordan (JoAnn) of Lorimor; Mike Jordan (Nancy) of Story City; and Danny Jordan (Pam) of Lenox; three daughters, Marilyn Krantz (Donnie) of Waynesville, MO; Carolyn Sheldahl (Dale) of Orient; and Diane Smith of Arispe; 17 grandchildren; 33 great- grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins, special friend Bill Orchard of Jefferson, other relatives and many friends.
