Margaret Louise Newsom

December 6, 1924 — June 4, 2016

The family of M. Louise Newsom, 91, mourns the loss of their mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She died at home on June 4, 2016 after a brief illness. A memorial service will be held Sunday, June 12 at 1 pm at Windsor Presbyterian Church. Family will greet friends following the service. Burial in the Masonic section of Glendale Cemetery will be private. Louise was born in Dolliver Iowa, the third daughter of Everett Noyes Sullivan and Margaret Tuthill and was raised in Des Moines. A graduate of North High School, Louise worked as a keypunch operator at Equitable Life Insurance Company in Des Moines before marrying Kenneth Newsom. In addition to raising their three children, she was the owner of Draperies by Louise, producing custom window coverings to Des Moines area homes. Upon their retirement, she and Kenny built several custom homes in Cottonwood, Arizona. She was an active member of Knox Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir. When the church closed, she and her husband transferred their membership to Windsor Presbyterian Church. Louise was preceded in death by her husband Kenny, her parents, one brother and one sister. She is survived by her sister Ruth Allen of Salem, Oregon, daughter Carol Newsom of Los Angeles, sons James R. Newsom (Linda) of Runnells and Thomas A. Newsom (Sandra) of Des Moines, eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
