Margie (Marge) Alexander Winterset Margie Alexander, 90, passed away in the home she loved in Winterset on August 6, 2016. Her wit, humor, grit and determination never waivered. Margie was born Aug. 16, 1925 in Madison County to Bruce and Fern (Lenocker) Algreen. She graduated in 1942 from Dexter High School and moved to Omaha. Her first job was in the bakery department at Buffett's Grocery Store. During WWII, she worked at the Martin Bomber Factory in Fort Crock as a "Rosie the Riveter" and later as a telephone operator for AT&T. Mirroring the age of 50, Marge began a new career. Marge hired on as a waitress at the Gold Buffett in Winterset. She would spend the rest of her working career, spanning over 4 decades, in an industry she loved. Marge raised her seven children with great love and attention. She was preceded in death by daughter Stacey "Buffy", sister Marie Algreen, sister-in-law Sharilynn Algreen, parents, Bruce and Fern. She is survived by sister Dorothy Ault of St. Lucie West, FL and brother Ronnie Algreen of Dexter; her children Greg, Dan, and Jill of Winterset, Jeff of LaCrosse WI., Julie of Macksburg, David (Sue) of Aurora CO; grandchildren Sasha, Hillary, Jared, Mike, Nathan, Adam, Natalie, Sarah, Jonathon, and nine great grandchildren. Visitation is planned for Sunday Aug. 28 at her home from 2 to 6 PM. Memorial services and interment will be 11 AM Monday, Aug. 29, at Penn Center Church.
