Marguerite M Gowin

Marguerite M. (Forester) Gowin of Adel, Iowa; age 104 years died Friday, January 11, 2019 at the Spurgeon Manor, Inc., Dallas Center, Iowa. A funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home-McCalley Chapel, Adel with a burial to follow at Oakdale Cemetery in Adel. She attended Adel Schools and upon graduation worked at the Dime Store for a few years before becoming the Dallas County Recorder in January of 1957. She married Kenneth Gowin from Adel. Marguerite and Kenneth then owned Gowin Hardware. While Kenneth tended to the hardware store, Marguerite worked for 21 years at the Dallas County Recorder’s office. She and Kenneth attended the United Methodist Church in Adel. Being an only child, Marguerite, was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Gertrude Forester and husband, Kenneth Gowin. She is survived by a great niece and many great, great nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be donated to Spurgeon Manor, Inc. in Marguerite’s name.
