Marian Arnette Miehe, daughter of Harold and Esther (Mawe) Miehe, was born July 21, 1929, in Maynard, Iowa. She graduated from high school and continued her education acquiring her two year teaching certificate. Marian was united in marriage with Arthur “Art” Blaschke on May 28, 1950; three daughters were born to this union. The couple moved to Winterset in 1961. Marian owned and operated Circle 4 Preschool for 26 years and later was a teaching assistant at the Winterset Public Schools for several years. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Winterset; where she was active in the choir, quilters, blood drives, and countless other church activities. Marian had a special gift for working with children and was proud of the lives she was able to touch through her work. In her leisure time, she enjoyed quilting, gardening, biking, and playing cards. She and Art appreciated Madison County Meal Site where they often took advantage of the meals and fellowship found there. They were also snowbirds and enjoyed taking their RV to Texas for the winter. Above all else, Marian loved her family and cherished visits from her daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She will be missed. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 67 years, Art Blaschke of Winterset; three daughters, Kathi (Gary) Haymond of Iowa City, Sheri (Phil) Matlage of Winterset, and Janet (Brad) Brown of Cumming; six grandchildren, Kim (Matt), Andrea (Nick), Sarah (Dylan), Paul, Kayla, and Kyle (Bre); six great-grandchildren, Cormac, Liam, Rowan, Lincoln, Jackson, and Alex; two grand dogs, Jackie and Austin; extended family and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Esther Miehe.
