Marian Irene Christensen

Marian I. Christensen, 93, of West Des Moines, IA, passed away Saturday, October 14, 2023 at Edgewater Senior Living Nursing Home in West Des Moines. A funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 21, 2023 at Reichmuth Funeral Home, 21901 W. Maple Road, Elkhorn, NE 68022. A visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Marian was born at home in Delmont, SD on March 5, 1930 to George and Shirley (Berry) Reed. In 1931 the Reed family moved to Nebraska; living in Ashland and Elkhorn and in 1935 settling in Valley, Ne, where Marian attended school; graduating fromValley High School in 1947. She attended the University of Omaha for one year. She married Richard Keith Christensen of Fremont, NE on May 16, 1948. They had three children; Rhonda Kay, Richard II (Dick) and Reed Kirk. In the early years of their marriage  Marian worked as a secretary at General Electric Corporation in Omaha, and at Nebraska Psychiatric Institute and she was always involved in the family businesses as a secretary and bookkeeper. In the 1960's till 1976 they owned Transport Roofing Company and sold. They moved to Fort Lauderdale, FL, in 1977, with their two sons and daughter-in-laws to develop and build a 950 space RV Park and a Candlelight Park. During this time they also owned farms in eastern Nebraska and cattle ranches in western Nebraska.

Marian's husband R. Keith Christensen passed away June 11, 2014. She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Rhonda (Don) Dramstad, Dick (Deb) Christensen, Reed (Mary) Christensen and a brother, George B. Reed of Reston, VA., eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Betty, who passed away at 5 years of age of a brain tumor.
