Marie Mischke

Marie Mischke, daughter of Charles M. Arbuckle and Winifred Pettit Arbuckle was born July 13, 1914 at Trenton, Missouri and died August 20, 2008 at the Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson, Iowa at the age of 94 Years, 1 Month, and 7 Days. Marie moved to Jefferson when she was just 3 months old. She attended the country school and Jefferson High School for 2 years. She received her GED in 1980. Marie was baptized into the Farlin Church of Christ when she was 12 years old. In 1989, when the Farlin Church closed, Marie transferred her membership to the Jefferson Church of Christ. She married Lynn Mischke on June 6, 1934 in Churdan, They were parents of 2 sons, Charles and Nile. They lived on a farm west of Farlin where she actively helped her husband with their livestock and grain operation. They moved to Jefferson in 1986 and she later moved to Greenewood Apartments in 1998. Marie enjoyed doing crafts, sewing, crocheting and cooking. Along with her sister-in-law, Edith Price, they organized the Friendly Club in the early 1930's. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, Viola Miller. Marie is survived by her sons, Charles and his wife Phyllis of Churdan, and Nile and his wife Irene of Jefferson; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; a brother, Dean Arbuckle of Jefferson; other relatives and many friends.
