Marie Rankin

Marie Rankin, 83, of Winterset, died Thursday, December 10, 2015 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, December 12 at the Winterset Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family. Marie Ellen Rankin was born January 7, 1932 in Stuart, Iowa; the daughter of Orville and Eva (Shelton) Wines. She attended Stuart Community School and later married Frank Rankin, Jr. on November 25, 1951 at the United Methodist Church, Stuart. He preceded her in death in 1994. Marie was a homemaker and dedicated wife and mother. She attended the Winterset United Methodist Church. She enjoyed watching TV and when her health allowed, she did embroidery. She enjoyed family dinners and cherished any time spent with her family. Marie is survived by two daughters, Linda Hudson (John) of Lubbock, Texas and Carolyn Rankin of Winterset; four grandchildren, Jennifer, Christina, Steven, and Billy; five great-grandchildren, Shelly, Ciara, Brandi, Cody, and Lily; and two great great-grandchildren, Jaden Marie and Jordan Lee. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; great-grandson, Steven Tyler; and sister, Doris Girard.
