Mrs. Marilyn Margaret Fox (née Michaelis), of Carlisle, IA, passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at the age of 91. Marilyn was born to parents Walter and Loretta Michaelis on October 10, 1925 in Woodstock, IL. She grew up as the second of four children and graduated from Woodstock High School in 1943. In 1944, she entered the Garfield Park Community Hospital Nursing School in Chicago IL and graduated in 1947. August 30, 1947 she married Cecil Fox, of Redkey, IN. Marilyn worked as a Registered Nurse in various settings: hospitals, doctor’s offices and nursing homes. In later years, she volunteered with the Cayman Islands Pink Ladies Brigade, serving mainly at the Pines Retirement Home. Marilyn had a beautiful singing voice and sang in church choirs and as a soloist her whole life. She and Cecil lived for many years in Boulder Hill, IL and spent nearly 20 years in the Cayman Islands. Marilyn is survived by her daughters, Cynthia (Don) Roberts, Carol Kaser and Catherine Fox; her son, Clifford Fox (Deborah); her brothers, Donald Michaelis and Walter Michaelis; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Fox; her parents, Walter and Loretta; and her brother, Elwood Michaelis. A funeral service will be held Friday February 10th, 10:30am at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Carlisle, Iowa. Memorials may be made to one’s home church or to the LC-MS.
