Marilyn K. Nielsen

Marilyn K Nielsen, 68, of Urbandale passed away on March 7, 2020 surrounded by family. Marilyn was born in Carroll, Iowa to Charles and Helen Gray. She grew up in Altoona and graduated from SE Polk High School. Marilyn worked for the State of Iowa for 39 years. She retired in July of 2006. Marilyn made many memories vacationing with family, including several cruises and a 40th anniversary trip to Hawaii. She also enjoyed coffee with friends, dining out, and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved celebrating the holidays, and she was proud of her extensive collection of snowmen. Marilyn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Marilyn was happily married to her devoted husband, Terry, for 42 years. She was preceded in death by her parents. Marilyn is survived by her husband, Terry Nielsen; children Joseph (Katie) Nielsen, John (Lyndsay) Nielsen; grandchildren Lance, Ella, and Max. A visitation will be on Thursday, March 12, 2020 from 5:00-7:00 PM at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Urbandale with a rosary starting at 4:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 13, 2020 at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the St. Pius X Foundation.
