Marilyn (Spillers) Oneal was born in Adel, IA on June 5, 1926. She passed away on June 8, 2019 at the age of 93. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at the First Christian Church in Adel with burial following at Oakdale Cemetery in Adel. Family will greet friends Tuesday, June 18th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home – McCalley Chapel in Adel. Marilyn graduated from Adel High School in May, 1943. She loved music, and played her clarinet in the High School All-State Band for 2 years. After graduation, she worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. in Adel for 8 years. After raising her 3 sons, she went to work in Des Moines (U.S. West) for 12 years, retiring in 1984. She loved being with her family and friends. She cherished her three sons and their families. She also loved the “S&V” Club, was a charter member, and enjoyed the friendship and companionship of her S&V “sisters”. She was also very active in her church, having gone there for 85 years. Marilyn is survived by three sons, Alan (Denise), David (Janelle) and Jim (Sheryl); a sister, Marguerite Ganoe; two brothers, Larry Spillers of Davenport and Harry Spillers of Tucson, Arizona; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Lottie Spillers; a sister, Arlene Galetich and a nephew, Roger Ganoe. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Adel First Christian Church or Everystep Hospice. Arrangements are being handled by Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home – McCalley Chapel in Adel.
