Marilyn Louise Card

Marilyn L. Card, 86, passed away August 19, 2014, at Wesley Acres in Des Moines after a long battle with dementia. She was born in Des Moines to Carl and Ruth Mussetter. Marilyn graduated from North High School in 1946 and from Stephens College in 1948. After graduation, she worked for Younkers and United Airlines until she married the love of her life, Keith Card. Marilyn lived in West Des Moines since 1959 where she raised her family of four children. She loved traveling, gardening and admiring every shell while combing the beaches of Sanibel Island, Florida, during the 20 years she and her husband had a winter home in the area. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; her two sisters, Marjorie Armstrong and Maxine Mussetter; and in 2010, by her husband, Keith. Marilyn is survived by her children, Lisa Johnston (Bob) of Apalachicola, FL, Charlie (Susie) of Des Moines, IA, Jim (Joan) of Smithville, MO and Bob (Cynthia) of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Marcy, Nathan, Brandon, Bob and Forrest; great-grandchildren, Sofie, Mason and Vivian. She will be dearly missed by her family. Services will be private at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines.
