Marjorie J. Hoskins was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on August 7, 1920, the daughter of Rufus and Georgia Weitz Olive. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior on November 22, 2010, at the Greene County Medical Center at the age of 90 years. Marjorie graduated from East High School, Des Moines, Iowa, in 1938. After graduating from Capital City Commercial College in Des Moines, she went to Washington, D.C. where she held a variety of positions in the federal government. She eventually worked in the State Department for the Assistant Secretary of State Dean Acheson and Secretary of State George Marshall. After seven years in government work, Marjorie returned to Des Moines where she worked one year for the income tax division. On August 20, 1949, Marjorie married George Hoskins at her parents' home in Des Moines. They made their home on the family farm near Churdan, Iowa, and became the parents of three children, Susan, Dean and Charles. Marjorie had been a member of the Brethren Assembly in Des Moines. During her lifetime, she supported her husband in his farming operation and lovingly cared for her family. She particularly enjoyed collecting recipes, preparing wonderful meals and raising a large garden. She was preceded in death by her husband, George, her parents, and a brother, Robert. Those left to cherish her memory are her three children, Susan (Richard) Eberhart of Marshalltown, Dean Hoskins of Churdan and Charles Hoskins of Churdan; sister-in-law Florence Langille of Houston, Texas, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
