Marjorie M Johannsen, daughter of Abijah and Mamie Nicholas was born, November 26, 1925 in Rippey, IA and died May 19, 2014 at the Highland Nursing & Rehab in Highland, IN at the age of 88. Funeral Services were held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry. Words of comfort were made by Rev. Ken Bose of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Perry, Iowa. Honorary bearers were; Mitchell Harrington, Jack Friedrickson, Dylan Sadzewicz, Rush Friedrickson and Gary Sludder. Casket bearers; Gary Friedrickson, Scott Friedrickson, Joseph Johannsen, Joseph Sadzewicz, Johnathan Friedrickson, Jacob Friedrickson, Rusty Friedrickson and Chris Baccino. Musician; Elta Summerson, Hymns; He Touched Me, In the Garden, The Old Rugged Cross, Abide with Me, How Great Thou Are, God Be With You till We Meet Again. The burial was at the Rippey Cemetery in Rippey, Iowa. Marjorie met and later married Werner Johannsen on September 9, 1945. They had three children together: David, Linda and Sharon. She worked for D&P Lumber in Altoona, IA for 18 years until retirement. Marjorie and Werner had become interested in camping in 1971 and camped around the Des Moines area, later venturing to Florida for a month every winter. Werner enjoyed this so much that he and Marjorie moved to Florida after Werner retired from John Deere in 1981. Marjorie and Werner then moved to Griffith, IN in 2002 to live with their daughter Linda. Marjorie was an avid bingo player who loved to crochet afg hans, handcrafting one for each member of the family. She also enjoyed reading with her Kindle that she had received for Christmas as well as making cookies with her great grandchildren. Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years Werner; her parents; three brothers and one sister. Marjorie is survived by her son; David (Kathy) Johannsen of Hammond, IN; her 2 daughters Linda (Jack) Friedrickson of Cedar Lake, IN and Sharon Harrington, of Clear Lake, MN; her sister Veona Fisher of Griffith, IN. She dearly loved her 12 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be missed very much.
