Marjorie Blanche Netherton, daughter of Arthur Basil Borst and Mary Alice Burchfield was born, October 12, 1917 in Yale, Iowa and died May 21, 2014 at the Rowley Memorial Masonic Home in Perry, at the age of 96. Funeral Services were held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2014 in the Irene Barbara Lunde Memorial Chapel at Rowley Memorial Masonic Home in Perry, Iowa. Words of comfort were made by Pastor Chris Tjapkes of the First Baptist Church in Perry, Iowa. Honorary bearers were; Rome Barreras, Ryan Barreras, Norman Borst, Mark Borst, Bernard Wernli, Jim Collins, Ferrol Miner, Larry Herron and John Hollar. Casket bearers; Brian Netherton, Tom Kilts, Jim Borst, Leroy Conner, Larry Cole and Dan Hick. Music by Susan Tjapkes and solo by Darlene Roeder. Hymns; Because He Lives and How Great Thou Art. The burial was at the Richland Township Cemetery in Bagley, Iowa. Marjorie grew up on a farm in Yale, Iowa and attended school in Perry, Iowa. She helped out with a few chores on the farm such as milking the cows and helping with crops and also fished at Mosquito Creek with her free time. On September 20, 1939 in Adel, Iowa, Marjorie was united in marriage with Kenneth Larue Netherton. Marjorie and Kenneth then had 3 children together Alice Louise, Sharon and Jerry. Marjorie enjoyed fishing, canning, gardening and cooking. She was a farmer's wife who did wallpapering with her sister-in-law Dorothy Borst. She helped out at the First Baptist Church in Perry in the kitchen, whenever and however she could. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; daughter Alice Louise; son-in-law Rome Barreras; her sisters Gladys Wernli Hagenstein and Maxine Cole; her brothers Kenneth Borst, Melvin Borst and Clarence Borst; sisters-in-law Dorothy Borst and Alberta Borst Grubbs; brothers-in-law Millard Cole; Fred Hagenstein and Raymond Wernli. She is survived by her son Jerry (Debby) Netherton of Perry, IA; daughter Sharon Kay Barrreras, of Henderson, Nevada; sister Vivian June Conner of Perry, IA; her grandchildren Ryan (Dee Dee) Barreras of Eugene OR; Tanya Barreras Campbell of Eugene, OR; Jennifer (Thomas) Netherton Kilts of Des Moines, IA and Brian (Melissa) Netherton of Perry, IA; sisters-in-law Madonna Leber of Altoona, IA and Barbara Netherton of Springfield, MO; 15 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends.
