Mark Toland

Mark Steven Toland, age 67, of Des Moines, passed away unexpectedly on January 27, 2020. A visitation will be held from 4:00pm to 6:00pm on Friday, January 31st at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home in Urbandale. Mark was born April 10, 1952 in Mt. Ayr, Iowa to Robert “Bob” and Ida “Beth” Toland. Mark had his Master’s Degree in Music. He was passionate about music and was talented on any instrument he played. Mark was in the computer programming field. He had a career with Waukee Community Schools for the past 16 years as the Director of IT. Mark found joy being around his family and friends. Mark was the beloved husband of Cindy Toland for 32 years. They were married on July 2, 1987. Mark was the loving father of Jessica (Tim) Toland and Jeremy (Brittan) Toland, and step-father of Michelle (Justin )O’Brien. Mark was the grandfather of seven children, Megan, Mason, Tyler, Grace, Jace, Jax and Allie. Mark is survived by his brother, Neil (Mary Ann) Toland. Mark is proceeded in death by his parents, Robert “Bob” Toland and Ida “Beth” Toland, his brother, Lynn Toland, and his step-daughter, Kari Ronan.
