A celebration of life service for Marsha Ann McCain was held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 12, 2013 at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry. Visitation was one hour prior to the service. Chaplin Kevin Vryhof of Hospice of Central Iowa provided words of comfort. Music played was In The Garden and Stairway to Heaven. Interment was at the Woodward Cemetery in Woodward. Following the burial was a luncheon at the Bouton Community Center. Marsha Ann McCain was born February 15, 1953 in Perry, Iowa to Patricia Ann Whitcher and Charles Halsey McCain and died on September 9, 2013 at the Perry Healthcare Center in Perry. Marsha was raised in the Bouton area and graduated from the Perry High School in 1972. From there she attended the Des Moines Area Community College where she received an Associate's Degree in Horticulture. Marsha lived in Des Moines, Woodward, Dexter and then Perry. Marsha worked for the Botanical Center in Des Moines, Mid-American Energy and as a landscaper for Harvey's Greenhouse in Adel and then for Hartman Floral & Greenhouses in Perry. Marsha enjoyed a variety of interests, including reading; especially Steven King, Dean Koontz and James Patterson novels, "digging in the dirt", picking up rocks and fishing. She loved her pet dogs and cats and her pet cat "Baby" was a resident of the Healthcare Center with her. Marsha was preceded in death by her parents and an aunt, Laura Clark. She is survived by her daughter Sarah McCain of Boone; sister's Belinda Nelson of Seattle, Washington and Camilla McCain of Bouton and a brother Jack McCain of Perry; aunts Inez McCann (Al) of Arkansas, Mary Peterson (Fred) of Perry, Laura Clark of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Veda Cartwright of Anchorage, Alaska, Eva Salisbury (Ira) of Ames, Patricia Cotton (Joe) of Pace, Florida, Karen Leggitt of Adel, Nancy Bickel of Ankeny, Linda Feth of Perry and Lou Ann Whitcher of Boone; and uncles John McCain (Carolyn) of Des Moines and Francis McCain of Clearwater, Florida.
