Marvin Imes - Winterset

Marvin Imes, 78, of Winterset, Iowa, died Sunday, August 11, 2013 at his residence in Winterset. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM Friday, August 16, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset with Father Dan Kirby officiating. His body will be cremated following the service with the cremains being interred in the St. Charles Cemetery at St. Charles, Iowa at a later date. Marvin was born on June 30, 1935, at St. Joseph, MO. At an early age, he moved to St. Charles and was a 1954 graduate of St. Charles High School. After high school he enlisted in the Iowa National Guard and served until the mid 1960's. Marvin spent most of his life being a machinist and farming until the last 15 years when he worked for Hy-Vee at the Jordan Creek store. He had lived most of his life in Madison County and was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He married Mira Perez on December 11, 1981 at Winterset and to this marriage were born three children. Marvin is survived by his wife, Mira Imes of Winterset; daughter, Marycar Imes of Des Moines; and sons, Jess Imes and Gary Imes, both of Winterset. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Marie (Field) Imes. Visitation will be Thursday from noon to 8 PM at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 PM. A Rosary will be recited at 5:30 PM. Memorials may be directed to his family for a future designation.
