Mary Ann Glass

Mary Ann "Marie" Glass, daughter of Peter John Mischo and Emilie Anna Appl Mischo, was born September 13, 1913 in Jamaica, Iowa and died July 30, 2007 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa at the age of 93 years, 10 months, and 17 days. Marie graduated from Jamaica High School in 1931 and graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. She spent all of her life as a mother and most of her life as a wife and Registered Nurse. Marie had worked for Dr. Seidler in Jamaica after her graduation, and she remained in that area for quite a while. For a time she was a private duty nurse at Dallas County Hospital and in the 1960's worked at the Woodward State Hospital School, retiring in 1977. Marie married James J. Glass on August 23, 1938. They were parents of 9 children: James Joseph; Dennis Patrick; Mary Lou; Linda Marie; Peter John; Donald George; Steven Michael; Daniel Paul; and Julie Ann. Marie was a faithful member of St. Patrick Church and the Regina Guild. She enjoyed cooking, baking and visiting her family. Marie was a natural care giver and well fitted for her profession. Marie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband James in 1984; her daughter Linda Marie in 1947; brother Peter Mischo; and sister Helen Tighe. Marie leaves behind eight children: James Glass (Karyl) of Durango, Colorado; Dennis Glass of Perry, IA; Mary Lou Prindiville of Johnston, IA; Peter Glass (Juanita) of Tempe, AZ; Donald Glass (Diane) of Plano, TX; Steven Glass (Sara) of Chandler, AZ; Daniel Glass (Mitzi) of Kingman, AZ; and Julie Gerboth (Bruce) of Phoenix, AZ; 22 grandchildren: Joe Glass; Kristin Dodds; Denise Conrad (Harlow); Angie Glass; Randy Glass; Ricky Glass; Scott Johnston (Angie); Kim Dickey (Bob); Kevin Prindiville (Laurie); Michael Prindiville (Julie); Marnie Duplissis (Gary) Mindy Matteson (Mike); Jackie Millaway (Jeff); Bill Glass; Amy Shores (Ross); Emily Glass; Kayci Glass; Kelly Glass; Chris Kunch; Jack Ames (Mutsumi); Tom Gerboth; Kristina Gerboth; 24 great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law Irene Anderson of Urbandale, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
