Hastings Funeral Home in Perry is in charge of arrangements for Mary Elizabeth Galivan, 70, of Perry. Mary died August 6, 2021 at Mercy West Lakes. Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry. Visitation will be Friday, August 13, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with family greeting hours from 5:00 - 7:00 at the funeral home.Mary Elizabeth Galivan, daughter of Floyd Junior Chenoweth and Marguerite Christina Gingrich Chenoweth, was born September 27, 1950 at King's Daughters Hospital in Perry, Iowa and died August 6, 2021 at Mercy West Lakes in West Des Moines, Iowa. Mary grew up in Rippey until the age of eleven when she and her family moved to Perry. On July 20, 1968 Mary was united in marriage to the love of her life Bryan Randall Galivan Sr. at the First Assembly of God in Perry. The couple was blessed with four children: Randall, Bryan Jr., Laura, and Douglas. Mary worked as a RTW at Woodward State Hospital, Smith, Kline & Beecham, head chef at the Thymes Remembered Tea Room, and as a supervisor for Rainbow International. She enjoyed cooking, reading, listening to gospel music, and collecting cookbooks, canes, and Santas. Mary loved animals, nature and was an avid collector of rocks. She was preceded in death by her parents, and three brothers: David Chenoweth, Dennis Chenoweth, and Charles Chenoweth. Mary will be dearly missed by her husband of 53 years Bryan Galivan of Perry; children: Randall Galivan (Jamie) of Yale, Bryan Galivan Jr. of Perry, Laura Holst (Darrin) of Bouton, and Douglas Galivan (Erin) of Perry; ten grandchildren: Tessa Whitney, Dylan Galivan, Patience Galivan, Aydan Galivan, Cale Holst, Samantha Galivan, Cooper Galivan, Cohen Galivan, Layton Holst, and Xander King; her great-granddaughter Nova Barroso; her brothers: Floyd "JR" Chenoweth (Muriel) of Muscatine, Donald Chenoweth (Mary Jo) of Apopka, FL, Jerrold "Jake" Chenoweth (Dolorez) of Cottonwood, AZ, Herman Chenoweth (Sheila) of Afton, Harold Chenoweth (Pam) of Astatula, FL, and Kenneth Chenoweth (Shellie) of Fairgrove, MO, Wayne Chenoweth (Ilene) of Willow Springs, MO, and Christopher Chenoweth of Davenport, IA; her sisters: Janet O'Hare (John) of Tucson, AZ, Carol Marshall (Bruce) of Tucson, AZ, and Kathryn Pentico (Randy) of Perry; sisters-in-law Janell Chenoweth of Afton, IA, and Cathy Elliott of Jamaica, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. 5.
