Mary Ellen Hogan

Mary Ellen Hogan, 83, passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at her home. A memorial Mass will be at 10:30am, Monday, November 27 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Des Moines. A visitation will be one hour prior to services. Inurnment will be at the St. John’s Cemetery, Cumming, Iowa. Mary Ellen was born November 16, 1934 in Des Moines, Iowa to Edward and Boneta Hogan. She was a graduate of St. Joseph Academy in Des Moines and Marycrest College in Davenport, Iowa. Mary Ellen worked in education as a librarian and retired from Saydel High School. She loved her family, dogs and reading. She was a longtime member of St. Theresa Catholic Church. Mary Ellen is survived by her sisters, Marguerite (Jack) Snell, Agnes (Dave) Brown and Connie McClure; and 23 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Katie McEniry and Teresa Smith; and brothers, John and Tom Hogan. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Theresa Catholic Church or the Animal Rescue League.
