Mary Ellen Lloyd

Mary Ellen Lloyd was born on August 3, 1926 in Greene County, Iowa to William "Bill" Ganoe and Madeline (Derry) Ganoe. She grew up in Cooper, and Jefferson. She graduated from Jefferson High School. Mary married the love of her life Jack H. Lloyd in 1945. The couple was blessed with six children: Ginger, Jack E., Tim, Jerry, Debra, and Jodie. They made their home in Guthrie County on Jack's parents' farm, before moving into Bayard. Mary helped sort corn in the Fall for Garst and Thomas Hybrid. She did contract work for various large poultry companies traveling all over Iowa, Minnesota, and Missouri. Mary was leader of a crew that moved large numbers of chickens from commercial poultry facilities. She retired in 2000. She was the glue that held the family together. Mary was strong, loving, funny, and always there when you needed her. She enjoyed watching FOX News and the Iowa Hawkeyes football games. Mary loved to garden, but she loved spending time with her grandchildren more than anything. Family was always very important to Mary, and you could always find a large group gathered at her home. She passed away on February 18, 2024 at the Guthrie Center Hospital. Mary was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Madeline Ganoe, husband Jack H Lloyd, son Timothy Lloyd, brothers: David Ganoe (Martha), LaVerne Ganoe (Doris), and Donald Ganoe (Carol), sisters Louise Brown (Wayne) and Kathryn Murphy (Richard), and son-in-law Joel Davis. She is survived by her children: Ginger Lloyd of Bayard, Jack E. Lloyd (Kathy) of Bayard, Jerry Lloyd (Joanne) of Jefferson, Debra Davis of Coon Rapids, and Jodie Marean (Darwin) of Guthrie Center; daughter-in-law Karen Schaudt of Archer, Florida; grandchildren: Darin Lloyd, Jennifer Lloyd, Ryan Lloyd, Jaylon Lloyd, Zach Davis, Heath Lloyd, Heather Bielenberg, Brianna Quillen, and Buck Marean; several great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives, and many friends. Visitation with family present was held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at Hastings Funeral Home in Jefferson. Funeral Services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 23, 2024 also at the funeral home. Memorials may be sent to Hastings Funeral Home- P.O. Box #204 - Perry, IA 50220.
