She was born December 11, 1935 in Chicago, Il. She grew up in Chicago’s Rogers Park neighborhood and West Des Moines, Iowa. She graduated from Des Moines St. Joseph Academy high school and received her nursing degree from Des Moines Mercy School of Nursing. Following her graduation, she embarked on a career in nursing as surgical nurse. She married her husband Donovan Miller in 1972. MaryJane and Don lived in a variety of places, including New York City, Trenton, NJ, New Orleans and Nashville. After Donovan‘s death MaryJane moved to Waukee, Iowa to be closer to her immediate family. MaryJane had a passion for dogs. Throughout her life, she owned a number of African Rhodesian Ridgebacks, as well as dogs from rescue shelters. She is mourned by Sally Donovan Latta, Catherine Latta (Eric) Jorgensen, Mary Latta (Michael) Thilges, and Albert Seckinger. She is preceded in death by her parents Myrtle Edge Locke and John Kerr Locke, and brother Dr. Father John Kerr Locke Jr. (SJ). Due to the COVID-19 virus pandemic, there will not be a public funeral. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Nepal Jesuit Society and Animal Rescue League of Iowa.
