Mary Janine Sutherland

Mary Sutherland, age 74 of Johnston, passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at the MercyOne Hospice in Johnston, IA. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Perry. Burial will be in the Violet Hill Cemetery at Perry, IA. Memorials will be given to St. Patrick's Foundation and may be left at the Carris Family Funeral Home & Cremation Care. Online condolences may be left at www.carrisfuneralhome.com. Mary Janine Sutherland was born on August 27, 1948, in Denison, IA to Hubert John and Marie Josephe (Delga) Lind. She graduated from St. Patrick's Catholic School and then enrolled in the Army Nurse Corp. When she returned from the Army, she went to the Mercy Nursing School. She was united in marriage to Ronald Sutherland at Denver, CO on March 4, 1970. Mary worked for many years at the Woodward Resource Center. She was a member of the Catholic Church. She enjoyed reading, embroidery, crocheting, and collecting mice. In death she rejoins her parents, Hubert and Marie Lind, sister, Jeannette Ann Lind, a brother, James Lind, and a grandson Drew Jacobson. Left to cherish Marys memory are her children, David (Andrea) Sutherland, Nina (Jeff Mount) Sutherland, and Ronald Sutherland, grandchildren, Keegan Sutherland, Riley Jacobson, Bryce Sutherland, Caleb Sutherland, Ean Sutherland and Feylin Sutherland, 3 brothers, Philip (Linda) Lind, Bob Lind, Michael (Lila) Lind, sister, Susan (Dave) Waters, sister-in-law, Mary Lind, and numerous nieces and nephews.
