Mary Jo Staniger

Mary Jo Staniger, went peacefully home to the Lord, and her soulmate, Chuck, on 2-20-2024. It was her 73rd birthday.

Mary Jo’s wit and humor were only outmatched by her compassion for others. She was a nurse for over 50 years. She started out being the go-to nurse for starting I.V.s. She worked on the Neurosurgical team and also started and ran the Pediatric Cranial-Facial Sub Specialty Clinic. She spent her last years working remotely for The Iowa Arthritis and Osteoporosis Center.

She spent 43 years with the love of her life, Chuck Staniger. They loved going on adventures with their RV to Northern Minnesota, or out west.

She is survived by her daughter, Jill Staniger, of West Des Moines, IA and son, Jason (Nicole) Staniger of California; grandchildren Sophia, Augustine, Athanasius, Aletheia, Theophilus, and Dmitri; brothers Tony (Sue) Kauzlarich and David Kauzlarich of Missouri; brother-in-law John (Mary) Staniger of Ames, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews. She also had many dear friends who she loved deeply.

She is preceded in death by her parents Rudy and Anna Kauzlarich as well as her brother Paul Kauzlarich.
