Mary Jo Tucker, 86, of Winterset (formerly of Macksburg), passed away on November 29, 2020 at the Kavanagh House in Des Moines. Mary Jo Lull was born on September 12, 1934 to Robert and Blanche Lull in Patterson, IA. She graduated from Patterson High School in 1952. Not long after graduation, she was united in marriage to Max Jay Tucker on June 29, 1952. The two would go on to share 66 wonderful years of marriage together. Mary Jo loved spending time with her family. This was evident as she enjoyed watching the Gaither Gospel Hour every week with Max, going to open house tours with her son, Randal, to see how others decorated their homes, and reading stories to her grandkids. She was also known to be a good cook, as her chicken and noodles, along with buttermilk cookies were a common request at her house. Her beautifully decorated cakes were a real source of pride for her. Mary Jo was a creator who was constantly looking to produce something beautiful in the lives of those around her. In her younger years she was a member of the Garden Club and was always pleased when her flower beds produced a showy display. She loved keeping up with home décor trends and also enjoyed decorating her home for whatever the current holiday. A master seamstress, she used her family to express her artistic bent. Whether creating matching red and white seersucker outfits for her young family or running off costumes for Halloween or school plays, she was always quick with her trusty Singer. Mary Jo is survived by her five children, Brian Tucker of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Gregory (LeAnn) Tucker of Winterset, Renee Tucker of Des Moines, Noel (Teresa) Tucker of Odem, TX, and Neal (Robin) Tucker of Centerville, OH; 6 grandchildren, Aaron (Megan) Tucker, Amy (Thad) Tussey, Trent (Jeanna) Tucker, Seth Tucker, Scott (Raquel) Tucker, and Jordan (Ali) Tucker; 16 great grandchildren, Addison Tucker, Brayden Tucker, Archie Tucker, Trey Tussey, Landri Tussey, Wyatt Tucker, Sawyer Tucker, Lane Tucker, Camila Tucker, Liam Tucker, Lance Tucker, Rowan Tucker, Raif Tucker, Catalina Tucker, Emrys Tucker, and Eleri Tucker; sister-in-law, Ethel Lee Osborn Tucker; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Max Tucker; son Randal Tucker; grandson Joshua Tucker; great grandson, Calan Tucker; brothers, Rex, Clyde, Roy, Loyde, and Pete Lull; and sister, Anna Lull. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in c/o Greg Tucker, to be given to Madison County Memorial Hospital/ end of life care.
