Mary Johnson

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Elizabeth Johnson will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 3, 2016, at Basilica of Saint John’s, 1915 University Avenue in Des Moines. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Saint John’s Cemetery in Cumming, Iowa. Mary was born on January 18, 1941, in Des Moines to John and Mary Ann Kirvin of Cumming, Iowa. She attended Saint Joseph’s Academy in Des Moines and was employed by Bishop Drumm Care Center prior to her retirement. Besides caring for others, Mary loved to have fun with family and friends. She is survived by several nieces and nephews, Cecelia Kirvin, Deanna Kirvin, Cynthia (Biff) Renner, Alene Kirvin, Patricia (Greg) Umthun, Tom (Connie) Kirvin, Susan Kirvin, David (Bridget) Kirvin, thirteen great nieces and nephews and five great, great nieces and nephews. She was preceeded in death by her parents, brothers, John, Joe and Donald Kirvin, and two nieces, Marilyn Kirvin-Quamey, Kathleen Kirvin and nephew Brian Kirvin. The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Sunny View Care Center in Ankeny, Iowa, who provided a caring and loving home for Mary.
