Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 13, 2011 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset. A visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., prior to services Saturday morning. Burial will be in the Winterset Cemetery. Memorials to her family are appreciated. Mary Lee Rankin was born November 27, 1920 in Macon, Missouri, the daughter of Claire and Pearl (Duff) Rankin. Her marriage to Albert Dale Hindman took place September 15, 1939 on the steps of the Madison County Courthouse during a community celebration. The couple’s names were drawn as winners of a wedding planned and paid for by local Winterset businesses and merchants. Mary Lee was a homemaker and farmwife. She took pride in raising her children and supporting her husband. She attended the Zion Church, New Hope Church and later the Four Square Gospel Church. She was also a member of the Monroe Happy Hour Club. She enjoyed reading and writing and loved flowers. She cherished time spent with family, especially her grandchildren and attending family reunions. Mary Lee died August 4, 2011 at the Madison County Health Care System in Winterset. She was 90. She is survived by her children, Virginia (Lloyd) Walker of Orrick, MO, Jeanne Leuty of Santa Rosa, CA, and Allan (Viola) Hindman of Winterset; 6 grandchildren, Marcy Swearingin, Vicky Meador, Barbara Leuty, Jack Leuty, Joe Hindman, and Sarah Hindman; 14 great grandchildren, Brooke and Christopher Swearingin; Katie Wiggins, Christina Roberts, and Jamie Wilson; John, Alisha and Katherine Leuty; Maxwell Leuty, and Shayna, Johnny, Jonnathan, Jameson, and Heidi Hindman; and 1 great-great grandchild, Lauren Wiggins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Albert in1986; siblings, Murray, Joe, and Norma Rankin; and sons-in-law, Tom Woods and Dr. Gerald Leuty.
