Mary Lou Noonan, 85, of Patterson, Iowa died March 22, 2016. A graveside service will be held 9:30 a.m., Monday, April 11 at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery near Van Meter with a reception immediately to follow at the American Legion Post # 403 in Van Meter. A visitation with the family present will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, April 10 at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset. Memorials may be made to the family. Mary Lou Ballentine was born August 17, 1930 in Minburn, Iowa to Clarence and Lela Opal (Moss) Ballentine. She graduated from Minburn High School in 1947. She married Charles Noonan and they were married 27 years until his death on December 12, 2013. Mary Lou worked for John Deere in Ankeny and was one of the first women ever hired to work on the assembly line. Mary Lou was not one to join organizations but rather enjoyed time with her husband and family. She spent a lot of time crocheting, sewing and she also loved playing cards, bingo and traveling. Mary Lou spent 19 winters in Apache Junction, her home away from home. She is survived by her children, Larry (Carol) Vokes of Adel, Terry Vokes of Waukee, Cheri (Mike) Bauer of West Des Moines, Cindy Vokes of Waukee, and Tammy (Kurt) Hansen of Clive; 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Betty (Allan) Feldmann of Granger, Shirley (Oliver) Houston of Corydon, Larry (Kathy) Ballentine of Newton, several nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother-in-law, Lawrence Greif, Jr., and a nephew.
