Mary M. Warren

Mary M. Warren, 86, of Winterset died Sunday, March 31, 2013 at Winterset Care Center North. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, April 6, at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset. Burial will be at a later date. Mary Margaret Walter was born March 29, 1927 in McGregor, Iowa; the daughter of John Frederick and Hilda (Lungwitz) Walter. She graduated from McGregor High School and later married Hugh Warren on September 24, 1951. He preceded her in death in 1987. She was a homemaker most of her life, raising her children and taking amazing care of her family. Mary moved to Winterset in 2006 moving from Des Moines. She and her husband raised their family in Grinnell and later she lived in Philadelphia and Atlanta before moving to Des Moines. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Winterset. She enjoyed time spent with family and friends and loved playing bridge. Mary is survived by her three children, Frederick Warren of Denver, Iowa, Susan Poole (Mark) of Sydney, Austrialia, and Sara Thalacker (Jim) of Winterset, Iowa; 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hugh; and a sister, Joanne Kiest.
