Mary Margaret Smith

Mary Margaret Smith, 83, was born in Boston, Massachusetts on October 23, 1936. She passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2020 surrounded by her family. She was married to Hollie Smith and they had four children, eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mary grew up in Charleston, Massachusetts. After her marriage to Hollie they lived in several cities as he had a 20 year career in the Navy. Mary enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling. Until a few years ago their winter home was in Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Mary Mulkern; brothers, John, Thomas, Stephen Mulkern and sister Ann Marie Mathews. She is survived by her husband, Hollie; children, Hollie F. (Cindy) Smith, Mary (Joe) Bertogli, Mike (Tina) Smith and Debi (Greg) Border; grandchildren, Shannon (Jamie) Wheat, Megan Smith, MacKenzie (Pat) O’Hair, Matt Smith, Mitchell (Kaela) Smith, Courtney Bertogli, Spencer Smith and Jake Peters (Skylar Kingsley); great-grandchildren, Jaxson Wheat, Liam O’Hair, Trenton Wheat, Burke Smith, Everly O’Hair, Vince Smith and Irelynn O’Hair. Visitation will be from 5:30pm to 6:00pm on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home & Crematory with a service following at 6pm. Interment will be at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery.
